Direbound

Killian makes preparations for Meryn’s mother’s funeral in the Garden of Eternal Rest. Meryn’s friends attend the service, as do Anassa, the Strategos pack, and Stark. After giving her eulogy, Meryn prays to the Faceless Goddess to watch over Saela. Meryn and Killian go to her mother’s house and pack her mother’s things. Meryn remembers her mother’s secret compartment below a loose floorboard and finds leather-bound journals containing pictures and notes that refer to Lumina, Nocturn, and Astreon. Anassa advises her to hide the journals from Killian. Confused, Meryn does so. When Killian asks if she found anything special that she wants to keep, she notices a tension in him. He then offers to have the royal perfumer recreate her mother’s favorite perfume. Later, Meryn corners Anassa and asks why she told her to hide the journals. Anassa only states that she has told her all she can and that perhaps it’s time that Meryn did her own research. Meryn stomps off, remembering that Anassa said something similar to her when she first visited Stark in his library.
