Tamsen Fadal is a Lebanese American menopause advocate and writer, who previously worked as a journalist and news anchor. She was born in Massachusetts and began her career in television in the early 1990s. Fadal excelled in her position as a news anchor, but when she approached the age of fifty, began receiving comments about her appearance and age. She also began experiencing menopausal symptoms at work like brain fog, all of which affected her confidence. Fadal made the brave decision to leave journalism behind to pursue a second career and second purpose as an advocate for menopause awareness and positivity.
Fadal turned to social media to begin sharing her experiences of menopause in a candid and totally open way. She appeared on camera without her makeup, discussing her hormone therapy, her hot flashes, and the stigma and shaming she has experienced during menopause. Today, Fadal has over 1.5 million followers on Instagram and over 500,000 followers on TikTok. She receives comments and messages every day from women who appreciate her openness, honesty, and the sense of community she helps create. Women feel comfortable sharing their own experiences of symptoms and stigma on Fadal’s platforms, and together they form a movement that seeks to normalize the experience of menopause while also empowering women to take control of their health and their lives.
