Kate Stewart’s One Last Rainy Day is the first installment in the Ravenhood Legacy series, a spinoff of the Ravenhood trilogy, a dark romance series that began in 2020 with Flock. That first book introduces the setting of Triple Falls, in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, as wealthy heiress Cecelia Horner moves to town to work for her father, the industrialist Roman Horner, and falls in with a secret society called the Ravenhood, whose members refer to themselves as “birds.” The birds model themselves on the legend of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, robbing from the rich to give to the poor. The Ravenhood’s organized crime is an effort to right the wrongs of corporate capitalism, stealing from large corporations and redistributing the money to struggling local businesses. Cecelia soon begins affairs with two of the Ravenhood’s principal members: Sean Roberts and Dominic King. Unbeknownst to her, the group has been plotting revenge against her wealthy father for years.
In the following novel, Exodus (2020), Cecelia finds herself ousted from the Ravenhood after the group’s leader, a mysterious figure initially identified only as “The Frenchman,” decides that her connection to her powerful father is a liability.
