In his introduction, McConaughey explains that he has always relied on logic to understand himself and the world. He begins his prayers with gratitude and seeks to rise above selfish desires, asking for guidance and holding loved ones in his mind as they were at their most authentic, radiant selves. He then strives to see himself in the same way, concentrating on that likeness, embracing it, giving thanks, and opening himself to let it fill him.
