Dr. Kristin Neff is an American psychologist, author, speaker, and associate professor of Human Development and Culture at the University of Texas at Austin. According to Dr. Neff’s website, she is considered a pioneer in the field of psychology for identifying and researching the practice of self-compassion, which has now been the subject of over 5,000 studies. Dr. Neff has written several books on the subject, including the follow-up to Self-Compassion, Fierce Self-Compassion: How Women Can Harness Kindness to Speak Up, Claim Their Power and Thrive and Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout (2021). In addition to her research and writing, Dr. Neff has also established the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion, which offers training in the practice.
