Chapter 30 Summary

Olivia learns that her involvement in Vincent’s book project has gone public. She suspects that Calder leaked this information to sabotage her and immediately responds to him using Vincent’s email account. Vincent walks in on Olivia using his computer and tells her to email Calder again and mention Calder’s practice of falsifying information to improve his clients’ reputations. Vincent then instructs Olivia to email Monarch and request that they remove the team member who leaked information to Calder.

Tom tries calling Olivia, though she does not take the call in front of Vincent. When Olivia explains who Tom was to her, Vincent guesses that she lied about their relationship to avoid discussing it with Tom. Vincent accuses her of deflecting, warning that this will guarantee her loneliness throughout her life. Olivia confronts Vincent about Lydia’s departure from their family. Vincent answers that they came to a mutual agreement, giving Lydia the space to safely work through her depression. Olivia is outraged that she grew up believing that her mother didn’t want her, and Vincent regrets his part in the decision.

Later, Olivia accidentally reveals to Nicole that Vincent is her father. Olivia regrets her dishonesty, but Nicole is excited to learn about it: This will help the book’s marketing and distract from Olivia’s feud with Calder.
