Chapter 5 Summary: “Pancakes”

Mother comes down with a cold, so Marly cannot visit Maple Hill for two weeks. Then a late-season blizzard prevents them from traveling, making Marly desperate to see her father and have more adventures with Mr. Chris. Even though everyone in town seems annoyed by the lingering cold, Daddy writes a letter and explains that the blizzard doesn’t bother people in the country. Finally, the snow melts enough for the family to travel, so Marly, Mother, and Joe make their way to Maple Hill at long last.
