Chapter 25 Summary

After a hard day at school with Kiera and Mason’s death glares, Del goes to Shianne’s house. He confesses the situation to Shianne, telling her she was right that Kiera isn’t worth his years of devotion and efforts to win her. Shianne, indignant, says she never mentioned Kiera’s worth; the reality is that Kiera is “uptight” and “churchy,” and Del isn’t. Del continues about how he thought Kiera was smarter than to have sex with Mason. Shianne says Mason is hot and Keira can make her own choices though Mason shouldn’t have talked about their intimacy.

She and Del get into an argument, but Shianne doesn’t back down. She explains that boys get unjustly upset with girls; as soon as a girl does something that doesn’t please them, they say women are “‘crazy, or juvenile, or stupid, or not worth your time’” (327). She believes Del has been dishonest by pretending to be religious and changing himself for Keira, then thinking Kiera owes him something. Del defends himself and leaves in a huff.
