A modern alternative to SparkNotes and CliffsNotes, SuperSummary offers high-quality Study Guides with detailed chapter summaries and analysis of major themes, characters, and more. For select classroom titles, we also provide Teaching Guides with discussion and quiz questions to prompt student engagement.

Discussion/Analysis Prompt

Select one of the narrators from the novel and consider the following questions: What motivates this character to fight for what s/he believes in? Compare your own response to the Personal Connection Prompt with your answer about this character. Describe any similarities and/or differences between the ways in which you fight for your cause and this character fights for her/his cause.

Teaching Suggestion: This Discussion/Analysis Prompt encourages students to apply the idea of fighting for a cause to the characters of the novel. Depending on the level of the class, this prompt may work well as either an in-class discussion or as a take-home assignment. While the characters in the novel are literally fighting for their cause, students who have fought metaphorically for something they believe in can still compare both their experiences and approaches.
