Sahil Bloom is an American author, entrepreneur, and investor from Weston, Massachusetts, and his plan for developing fulfillment and increasing one’s “wealth” in five key areas is deeply informed by the diversity of his own life experiences. Bloom grew up in Weston and was raised by his father (a Harvard professor) and his mother (an entrepreneur). Bloom’s mother, Lakshmi Reddy, is originally from Bangalore, India, while his father, David E. Bloom, was raised in the Bronx and met Reddy by chance in a library at Princeton University. Bloom calls his parents’ marriage “an unlikely collision of two worlds” (“About Me.” Sahil Bloom). Growing up with a Jewish father and Indian mother gave Bloom a diversity of cultural and spiritual influences, and he uses his highly adaptable perspective to create widely applicable solutions for crafting a more fulfilling life. As he writes, “The impact of growing up with a mix of cultures, religions, and beliefs was profound” (“About Me”).
As a young man, Bloom dreamed of a career in professional baseball and was admitted to Stanford University on a baseball scholarship. He played for the university’s team, The Cardinal, as a Division 1 player before an injury forced him to reconsider his plans. After graduating from Stanford with a double major in economics and sociology, Bloom worked as a graduate assistant coach for the baseball team while completing his master’s degree in public policy. After graduation, he was hired by the private equity firm Altamont Capital Partners and became vice president while still in his twenties. In The Five Types of Wealth, Bloom reflects on the fact that his own work ethic and dedication to his career paid off financially but forced him to neglect the rest of his life. His decision to leave his investing position and begin his own projects was a “leap of faith” which he feels has paid off dramatically. In 2020, he chose to leave his job at Altamont Capital Partners and pursue independent projects.
Bloom then founded SRB Holdings, a personal holdings company that holds ownership in start-ups such as PaperBoy and Alto Studios. He also founded SRB Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in start-ups such as Bravado, Kindred, and Starlight. Bloom’s interest in personal growth and work-life balance is complemented by his insight into finance and business, and these combined skills led him to start The Curiosity Chronicle, a weekly newsletter that reaches over 800,000 subscribers. On his website, Bloom shares that his newsletter is intended for “growth-minded individuals” and covers subjects from human psychology to “business, finance, startups, and technology” (“About Me”). He also maintains a YouTube channel, @Sahil_Bloom, which he uses to share his athletic training tips and daily vlogs from his working life. His 2025 book, The Five Types of Wealth, focuses on personal growth, and Bloom offers detailed guides for how best to develop each type of wealth.
