Charlotte's Web opens when Fern Arable saves a runt piglet named Wilbur from slaughter and raises him as her own before he is sold to the nearby Zuckerman farm. There, Wilbur settles into barn life and befriends a clever spider named Charlotte, who vows to save him after a sheep reveals the farmers plan to slaughter him at Christmas. Charlotte's plan is to weave flattering words into her web to convince the gullible humans that Wilbur is a miraculous pig. Beginning with 'SOME PIG' and continuing with 'terrific,' her scheme works beyond expectation, convincing the entire county and even the town minister that Wilbur is extraordinary. The plan climaxes at the County Fair, where Charlotte weaves her final word, 'humble,' before Wilbur is awarded a special prize that secures his future forever. Charlotte dies alone at the fairground, but her legacy lives on when her egg sac hatches the following spring and three of her daughters make their home in the barn beside Wilbur.

Alongside Wilbur's survival story, life on the Zuckerman farm is filled with smaller but vital moments that reveal character and drive the plot forward. From Fern watching Wilbur's first night outdoors to his comical failed escape and two spectacular attempts to spin a web, these scenes establish Wilbur as endearing, naive, and deeply lovable. The summer season brings the birth of seven goslings, Templeton's crafty claim on the dud egg, and a memorable afternoon when Fern and Avery swing freely in the barn loft. Charlotte's plan requires the grudging help of Templeton, who scavenges garbage for magazine clippings and eventually supplies the word 'radiant,' which Charlotte spins before telling Wilbur a bedtime story and singing him a lullaby. As the fair approaches, Wilbur is pampered with a buttermilk bath, and after his triumph, Templeton settles permanently into the barn, growing fat on first-pick slops as a reminder that even the most selfish characters can be softened by belonging.

This pool traces the key decisions, discoveries, and emotional turning points that drive Charlotte's Web from its opening scenes to its quiet resolution. From the moment Mr. Arable carries the tiny piglet to the house, through Wilbur's crushing loneliness and the midnight voice that promises friendship, the story builds on moments of revelation and irreversible change. Charlotte's critical epiphany that she can fool humans just as she fools bugs sets the entire rescue plan in motion, while Avery's accidental destruction of the rotten egg marks a near-fatal close call for Charlotte herself. As the story reaches the fair, Charlotte and Wilbur share a series of increasingly tender and sorrowful conversations, culminating in Charlotte's quiet revelation that she will never return to the barn. Wilbur's farewell to Charlotte and his later naming of her three daughters bookend a story about friendship, sacrifice, and how small acts of love can outlast a single life.
