Each revelation that follows—the arbitrary downgrading of offspring, the regime's hidden plans to attack the Underworld, and the brutal reality behind the Parting—strips away another layer of the society Emeline was taught to trust. Her declaration that she wants power, made directly to Violet after confronting the Parting's horrors, marks her emotional breaking point and sets her on a collision course with both Hal and the Illum. The discovery of Hal's manipulation file forces a reckoning between authentic connection and calculated strategy, but Emeline transcends both betrayals by claiming her own agency, volunteering to plant the rebel device against his wishes. From her first kiss with Hal in the Underworld tunnels to Tabitha's public crowning of her as full Elite, Pool 3 captures every moment where the story pivots on a revelation, a confession, or a choice made under impossible pressure.
