Aiden's fear of love is rooted in his mother's cancer and his father's grief, truths he hides behind bravado but cannot hide from Lucie for long; the necklace he never removes is the first crack in that armor she finds. For Lucie, each revelation about Aiden deepens her certainty that he is worth the risk, even as she grows clear-eyed about her own romantic defenses. A series of unexpected moments — a slow dance, a handwritten list of her favorite things, a couch fort built in secret — reveal the depth of care Aiden cannot yet say aloud. When Lucie ultimately leaves on her own terms, a chain of reconciliations forces Aiden to finally act, and a cleverly staged radio call brings their story full circle in a way that honors how it all began.
