Lyra and Grayson share their first kiss on a ruined patio after phase one of the Grandest Game ends.

Lyra runs alone on the island and feels an unsettling sensation of being watched at the boathouse dock.

The phase two competition begins when golden dominoes topple in the Great Room, revealing five golden darts.

Lyra traces tally marks on her golden dart and Grayson identifies a helipad symbol on a champagne flute.

Brady arrives at the helipad, claims a calla lily left there might be for him, and gives Lyra a key hint.

Lyra and Grayson solve a Roman numeral clock puzzle and retrieve two silver music boxes from hidden drawers.

The marble calla lily inside Lyra's music box triggers a traumatic memory fragment in which a woman's voice addresses her.

At midnight, the remaining players are summoned to a massive yacht for a formal masquerade social event.

Lyra confesses to Grayson that Eve is her anonymous sponsor and offered her millions to lose the game.

Grayson invokes the family truth code with his brothers, and Jameson admits he met a supposedly dead Alice Hawthorne in Prague.

Lyra and Grayson find Odette Morales, who reveals a secret all-female triumvirate and warns the calla lilies signal imminent danger.

Together they solve a chain of interconnected puzzles across the island, from golden darts at a helipad to Roman numeral clocks and mysterious silver music boxes tied to Lyra's buried trauma. A shocking confession — that Lyra's anonymous sponsor is Eve, a Hawthorne cousin with a personal vendetta — fractures their trust and pulls the Hawthorne brothers into a confrontation about their supposedly dead grandmother Alice. As the competition enters its final stage, the players race to a hidden chamber where one act of sacrifice decides the winner. But the celebration collapses when security announces that Avery Grambs has disappeared, transforming the end of the Grandest Game into the opening move of a far more dangerous conflict.

Behind the official competition, a series of shadow games unfolds that the main players cannot fully see. Gigi Grayson, kidnapped before phase two begins, works to uncover the web of manipulation surrounding her captor Slate and his employer Eve, who has secretly entered Savannah into the game as an instrument of revenge. Meanwhile, Rohan and Savannah pursue their ruthless transactional alliance through the island's puzzles, each preparing to betray the other at the first advantage. Brady Daniels operates as a mysterious lone agent, his moves directed by hidden messages on photographs and bound up with the fate of a missing girl named Calla. As Gigi finally escapes captivity only to be recaptured by a stranger in red, Rohan discovers that a powerful rival has been targeting him for months, and the chaos following the game's end reshapes every alliance on the island.

Grayson climbs after Savannah up a Douglas fir and tells her the full truth about their father planting a bomb on Avery's jet.

Hundreds of calla lilies appear floating in the ocean as Lyra and Grayson reconcile outside the ruins of Hawthorne House.

Avery wakes alone in a seamless white room with a complex maze etched into every surface.

The novel's most dramatic turning points unfold through a cascade of revelations that rewrite what every character believes to be true. Early warnings from Nash and a brutal clifftop confrontation from Jameson establish that the Hawthorne family is concealing a dangerous secret about their grandmother Alice, while Gigi pieces together how Eve weaponized Savannah's grief from the very start. Puzzle solutions force Lyra and Grayson into moments of raw vulnerability where buried memories finally surface, until Eve's direct offer exposes Lyra as a deliberate pawn in someone else's design. The capture of Gigi alongside her own captors reveals that even the manipulators are being controlled by a deeper power, embodied by the mysterious Calla Thorp. Trust between Lyra and Grayson shatters when she discovers his secret messages about Alice, though they forge new terms of honesty just as the ocean floods with calla lilies — and Avery wakes alone inside a seamless white room that is itself a maze.

The key discoveries and confrontations that shatter trust and expose a deeper game.
