The seven demigods begin their quest in Ithaca, where Jason infiltrates the palace of Odysseus and learns that Gaea's awakening ceremony will occur at the Acropolis in Athens. The goddess Juno directs them to collect allies and resources, leading to the capture of Nike in Olympia, the defeat of a giant in Sparta, and a dangerous underwater confrontation with the storm goddess Kymopoleia. A crucial thread runs through the quest as the demigods pursue the physician's cure, culminating in Leo secretly hiding the real vial inside the Argo II's engine as part of a plan only he fully understands. The two quests converge at Camp Half-Blood when Reyna arrives carrying the Athena Parthenos, prompting Greeks and Romans to unite just as Leo sacrifices himself to destroy the awakened Gaea. The final revelation confirms that Leo's plan worked completely: programmed by Leo to deliver the cure, Festus revives him and carries him to Ogygia, where Calypso is waiting.

On the parallel quest, Reyna's bond with Nico deepens through her accidental empathy with his loneliness, building toward her confession of the traumatic secret surrounding her father's death, which Nico defends with explosive fury. Quieter turning points—Nike's divided nature revealed, Nico accepting friendship, and Jason's wound healing through self-acceptance—show the inner transformations running beneath the surface action.
