This novelized retelling of the Gospel accounts presents the life, death, and resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus) through the first-person voices of five people who knew him: his mother, a sceptic, a fisherman, a close friend, and a woman from the village of Magdala. Set in first-century Yehuda and Galilee under Roman occupation, the narrative unfolds amid religious tension and ancient prophecy.

A prologue set three days after Yeshua's execution shows a hooded traveller joining two despondent companions on the road from Yerushalayim (Jerusalem). One of them, Clopas, laments that their hoped-for Messiah, the long-promised deliverer of Israel, has been killed. The traveller rebukes them for being slow to believe the prophets, then explains the Scriptures about the Messiah's suffering and glory. Their hearts feel "on fire" as they listen, though the traveller's identity remains concealed.

The narrative reaches back roughly 33 years, as Myriam (Mary), Yeshua's mother, recalls her life as a 16-year-old in Nazaret. An angel tells her she will bear a son called Yeshua, the Son of the Most High. Her betrothed, Yosef (Joseph), after receiving his own angelic visitation, marries her. A Roman census forces them to Beit Lechem (Bethlehem), where Myriam gives birth in an animal shelter. Shepherds arrive claiming angels announced the Messiah's birth. At the temple dedication 40 days later, a devout old man named Simeon, who had received a divine promise he would live to see the Messiah, proclaims the child as God's salvation but warns Myriam that a sword will pierce her heart.

Two years later, mystic travellers from the East arrive bearing gold, frankincense, and myrrh, the burial oil. That same night, angelic warnings send the family fleeing to Egypt. They later learn that King Herod, searching for Yeshua, sent soldiers to slaughter every boy in Beit Lechem aged two and under. Myriam is crushed by guilt and grief.

After Herod's death, the family returns to Nazaret. When Yeshua is 12, his parents lose him during a trip to Yerushalayim for Passover, a major Jewish festival, and find him three days later in the temple, seated among rabbis. He tells his panicked mother she should have known he must be about his Father's work. Years later, Yeshua's cousin Yohanan (John) emerges as a desert prophet baptizing in the River Yarden (Jordan). Yeshua insists on being baptized, and as he rises from the water, a pure white dove descends and rests on him while God's voice thunders, "You are my Son." He then walks alone into the desert for 40 days, returning emaciated but transformed.

At a wedding in Kana, Myriam pushes Yeshua to help when the wine runs out. He turns water into wine so fine the guests are astonished. This miracle attracts Ta'om (Thomas), a self-described sceptic who joins the followers out of curiosity. Ta'om watches Yeshua overturn the money changers' tables in the temple and receive a secret visit from Nicodemus, a member of the Sanhedrin (the Jewish ruling council). Yeshua then reveals his identity as Messiah to a Samaritan woman at a well, showing himself to outcasts rather than the powerful.

After Yohanan is imprisoned by Antipas (Herod's son), Yeshua's ministry intensifies. Ta'om witnesses healings: a dying boy restored from miles away, a woman with a 12-year affliction cured by touching Yeshua's cloak, a leper made whole, a paralyzed man told to rise. Yeshua delivers radical teachings from a hillside, blessing the poor, the mourning, and the meek, and commanding his followers to love their enemies. When Pharisees, enforcers of Jewish religious law, drag a woman caught in adultery before him demanding she be stoned, Yeshua says, "The sinless one among you, go first: throw the stone." No one does. Ta'om's last doubts dissolve when Yeshua calms a violent storm with two words, and he concludes that Yeshua is God.

The third section belongs to Shimon (Simon Peter), a fisherman called Kephas (meaning "rock"). He leaves everything after his brother Andreas hears Yohanan call Yeshua the Lamb of God. After Yohanan is executed by Antipas, Yeshua's urgency deepens. Kephas witnesses him feed 5,000 people from five loaves and two fish, with 12 baskets of food left over. That night, Kephas sees Yeshua walking on water and jumps out to join him, sinking when fear overtakes faith. When Yeshua asks who the disciples believe he is, Kephas declares, "You're the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Yeshua calls him the rock on which he will build his community but rebukes him when Kephas protests Yeshua's prediction of his own death. On a mountaintop, Kephas, fellow disciple Yakov (James), and Yohanan (John) watch Yeshua's appearance transform with radiant light as he speaks with Moses and Elijah. Near Yerushalayim, Yeshua raises his friend Elazar (Lazarus) from the dead after four days in a tomb, triggering the religious elite to plot his assassination.

The fourth section shifts to Yohanan, Yeshua's closest friend among the disciples, who narrates the final week. Yeshua rides into Yerushalayim on a donkey as crowds shout praises, then denounces the Pharisees and predicts the temple's destruction. On Wednesday, Yudah (Judas), one of the 12 disciples, sells Yeshua to the chief priests for 30 pieces of silver.

Thursday evening brings the Passover meal. Yeshua washes each disciple's feet, breaks bread and calls it his body, lifts the cup and calls it his blood, and sends Yudah to carry out the betrayal. He declares, "I am the way, the truth and the life," and warns Kephas of three coming denials. Late that night in the garden of Gad Smane (Gethsemane), Yeshua agonizes in prayer. A mob arrives; Yudah identifies him with a kiss. The disciples flee.

Before dawn Friday, the council condemns Yeshua for blasphemy. Kephas denies him three times; a rooster crows. Yudah hangs himself. The Roman governor Pontius Pilate finds no crime worthy of death but yields to the crowd's demand. Yeshua is scourged, crowned with thorns, and nailed to a cross. He cries, "Father, forgive them, they don't know what they're doing." At midday the sky turns black. He whispers, "It is finished." The earth shakes; the temple curtain tears from top to bottom. A centurion kneels: "Truly, this man was the Son of God."

The final section belongs to Myriam of Magdala (Mary Magdalene), who recalls how Yeshua freed her from severe panic and despair simply by speaking her name. After the crucifixion, Yosef of Arimathea, a wealthy follower, obtains permission to bury the body in a sealed tomb. On Sunday morning, Myriam finds the tomb empty. A figure speaks her name, and she recognizes Yeshua, alive. The disciples refuse to believe until he appears inside a locked room, shows his wounds, and eats fish. A week later, he appears for Ta'om, who falls to his knees: "My Master! My God."

Kephas, crushed by shame, retreats to fishing in Galilee. At dawn on the shore, the risen Yeshua asks him three times, "Do you love me?", replacing each denial with a commission to care for his followers. Over 40 days, Yeshua appears repeatedly, commissions them to go into all the world, and ascends from the Mount of Olives into a bright cloud. Two angels promise he will return. Myriam of Magdala feels no fear, only his presence within her. It is time to begin.
