Long Answer
1. In England, Alyss loses her imaginative abilities, and her Wonderland experiences are disbelieved by the Liddells and others around her. When Dodgson betrays Alyss by making her story into nonsense, Alyss completely disavows her Wonderland identity and suppresses her memories. Having her reality incessantly questioned engenders significant shame and self-doubt in Alyss until she ultimately forsakes her former identity and transforms into “Alice” to fit in with her new world. (Part 2, Chapters 16, 18, 21)
2. Under Redd, Black Imagination and the forces of destruction thrive. Redd centralizes herself in every aspect of daily life, including mandating every citizen to possess a statue of her in their homes and blaring “Reddisms” from the loudspeakers. White Imagination is banned. Dissent is met with execution or deportation to labor camps. Under Redd, Wonderland becomes an oppressed state, with all citizens forced to live under Redd’s control. (Part 2, Chapter 19)
3. The Looking Glass Maze allows Alyss to confront the darkness within herself and face the pain of her past. Alyss learns that she cannot give into hate, nor place her own feelings above the good of others. Alyss realizes that she has a responsibility to a purpose larger than herself, and she sacrifices herself in the Looking Glass Maze to save her friends. After this moment, Alyss claims the Heart Scepter and emerges from the Looking Glass Maze in possession of her full powers, having attained a psychological maturity that readies her to confront Redd. (Part 2, Chapters 47, 48)
