Octavia Butler’s Parable series is a visionary exploration of a dystopian future and the transformative power of belief and community. Consisting of two novels, the series follows the journey of Lauren Olamina, a young woman living in a world plagued by environmental degradation, social unrest, and economic collapse. Two of Butler’s most famous novels, brown drew inspiration from these novels and mentions them throughout Emergent Strategies.
