Reshmina is an 11-year-old girl from a small village in Afghanistan who dreams of becoming a teacher or translator. She is independent, focused on her education, and quickly learns English. She bravely assists Taz and confronts American soldiers, choosing mercy over revenge.

Pasoon is Reshmina's twin brother who lacks interest in school and is influenced by friends who joined the Taliban. He seeks revenge for family grievances but struggles with how it impacts his loyalty and sense of purpose.

Leo Chavez is Brandon's father, a dedicated dad who works as a kitchen manager in the North Tower. He is attentive to Brandon's behavior and maintains a bond with him, promoting non-violence and teamwork, even during the unfolding tragedy of 9/11.

Richard Lowery, a Black man with a management role at Cosmos Services, becomes Brandon's adoptive father after 9/11. He is kind and supportive, offering protection and stability to Brandon among the chaos, and shows genuine concern for others during the North Tower attack.
