Chapter 57 Summary

The morning after Enzo and Elara’s confrontation, Leonardo trains Elara as tensions escalate ahead of Ariete’s impending arrival. Enzo’s absence pains her. During a forest ride, Leonardo reveals Enzo confided in him. When Elara asks if Leonardo ordered the attack on her border, he denies it. King Idris gave the order.


Leonardo challenges Elara’s decision to push Enzo away. She insists duty must prevail over desire and calls herself a selfish coward for wanting to remain in Helios. Leonardo counters by describing Enzo’s past emptiness and how his eyes lit up when he first met Elara. He tells her that Enzo is always looking for her. Tearfully, Elara admits she looks for him too.


Days later, Leonardo bursts in with urgent news: Ariete declared he would march on Helios the next day after the Stars refused his demands at the Star’s Summit. Leyon demands a coup against his brother. Elara insists on training outside the palace to avoid distraction from Enzo.


That night, Elara finds Enzo slumped outside her door. Feeling cowardly, she climbs the rose trellis to her balcony. Inside, she sees his shadow beneath the door and slides down against it, falling asleep. She dreams of Enzo hanging from a chasm’s edge while fires burn on either side. She wakes in a cold sweat and heads to the palace baths.

Chapter 58 Summary

In the quiet bathhouse, Elara finally admits she loves Enzo—a feeling of recognition, as if her soul were finding its counterpart. Yet the prophecy and her responsibilities weigh heavily.


Someone enters. Elara hides behind a waterfall as a figure undresses. When he parts the water curtain, she finds Enzo. They trade flirtatious banter. Enzo admits he comes here nightly when he cannot sleep. Elara explains she had a nightmare.


She tells him what they have must end. Enzo grows angry, pointing out she has been avoiding him. He lists the intimate things he has done for her and asks if she does not feel the same profound need. He kisses her, then pleasures her with his hands, demanding she admit her feelings. She does.

Chapter 59 Summary

Elara arrives distraught at Isra’s house, confessing her love for Enzo and her conflict with the prophecy. When Elara mentions Enzo gave her his crown, Isra reveals its profound significance: In Helion tradition, giving one’s crown while kneeling is a formal pledge to make the recipient queen. Elara runs through Sol’s streets to the studio, entering through an open window. Enzo is not there. She moves a screen and discovers his secret project: a massive sculpture of herself from the cliff day.


Enzo appears and confesses that when he jumped off the cliff after her, he knew she was his soulmate. He explained that his mother told him he was missing half his soul, and Isra confirmed they are soul-tied. He declares his love, saying he would have accepted any part of her just to be near her.


Elara reciprocates and confesses her love. They kiss passionately. When she mentions the crown tradition, Enzo sinks to his knees before her and begs to taste her. He performs oral sex on her. Chapter 60 Summary

At the Angel’s Graveyard, Enzo reveals he visits before battles to draw strength. He shows her a stone disc with symbols of the Stars and another ring of unknown symbols outside them.


A booming voice speaks. One of the giant angel statues comes to life, introducing herself as Celine. A winged lion—a mythas named Nemeus—emerges and bows to Elara.


Celine reveals mortal powers derive not from the Stars but from ancient beings called the Celestes, whom the Stars erased from history after killing them through trickery. She tells Elara and Enzo their combined power is a weapon capable of killing the Stars.


A war horn sounds—Ariete has arrived. As they prepare to leave, Celine warns Elara privately to keep the Starkiller blade and not give it to Enzo, though she cannot explain why. Elara keeps the warning to herself.

Chapter 61 Summary

Elara and Enzo arrive at the eerily silent palace gates. Enzo reassures her that nothing would keep him from her. He scouts Ariete’s location, then returns reporting Ariete is in the throne room. He asks for the duskglass blade. Remembering Celine’s warning, Elara hesitates before handing him the false duskglass blade, concealing the real one.

Chapter 62 Summary

Ariete announces he will imprison her in the Heavens. As he drags her toward the doors, Elara tears herself free for a moment. She turns back, holds her head high, and tells Enzo’s that since she survived divinitas, she will survive him too.

Chapter 63 Summary

Ariete throws Elara into a dungeon cell. Overwhelmed by grief, her emotions break free. The locked box within her—where she has stored all her pain—shatters. She is pulled into her own dreamscape, a dark grove where trees show her suppressed memories on their leaves. Branches grab at her, forcing her to confront visions of trauma: Enzo’s betrayal, and her parents’ and Sofia’s deaths.


She sinks into the grass. Iridescent silver rain begins to fall. Her shadows pour out and form a figure: her shadow self. It tells her she has been running from darkness her whole life, feeding it but never facing it. Both Light and Dark must coexist.


The shadow explains that it is brave to be vulnerable in a cruel world, and better to feel everything than nothing at all. Elara surrenders completely. Chapter 64 Summary

Elara jolts awake in the cell, power surging through her. She reviews inconsistencies in Enzo’s betrayal: Why would he create duskglass only to hand it to Ariete? Why had Celine warned her not to give him the blade?


Enzo enters, twirling the duskglass blade. Elara feigns casual disinterest and questions why he bothered creating the weapon if he was working with Ariete. She reveals her own illusion: She has been hiding the real duskglass the entire time. The blade in his hand transforms into Sofia’s dagger. She turns his own taunt back on him and plunges the real duskglass into his chest.

Chapter 65 Summary

The person she stabbed transforms into Gem, the Star of trickery, gasping in her own blood. Elara explains how she finally knew it was not really Enzo: the smell of godslilies and incorrect details like a missing freckle and the wrong earring metal. She offers to spare Gem if she reveals Enzo’s location. Gem says he is in Idris’s lucirium. Elara then breaks her word, accusing Gem of helping kill Sofia. She plunges the blade into Gem’s heart while choking her with shadows, killing her.


Gem’s death breaks her charm over the guards. Elara escapes and finds an unconscious Leonardo in the lucirium alongside the real Enzo and a beaten Idris. After a brief reunion, Idris interrupts with contempt. He reveals he orchestrated Elara’s entire life based on two prophecies: one from Isra about duskglass, and one from his wife about a newborn girl with shadow powers who could survive a Star’s killing blow.


Idris admits he ordered his wife to steal infant Elara, but she warned Elara’s parents instead. Elara’s parents killed Idris’s wife for the knowledge. Idris confirms he also sent the guard who assaulted young Elara.


Elara encourages Enzo to face his own monster. Enraged by years of abuse and the truth about his mother, Enzo confronts his father, declares himself king, and incinerates Idris.

Chapter 66 Summary

Elara comforts the kneeling Enzo. He explains Ariete captured him while scouting and that he believed Leonardo had betrayed him. Leonardo awakens, and they reconcile. Elara outlines a new plan requiring all of them.


The scene shifts to Elara back in her cell. She has used dreamwalking to coordinate the plan. Ariete arrives with Enzo, who is coldly playing his traitorous role. They march Elara to the execution yard, where a crowd has gathered. Ariete calls for Idris to be brought out as a warning.

Chapter 68 Summary

The memory shows young Enzo in bed after his father whipped him. In a nightmare, five-year-old Elara appears, having accidentally dreamwalked to him. She comforts him and sings a song. The flashback ends as Elara and the dying Enzo finish the song together. She whispers that she remembers. Enzo tells her they will always find each other, even in death. Chapter 69 Summary
