Isaac’s Storm: The Film”

In this activity, students will create a movie poster advertising the upcoming film Isaac’s Storm.

A. Lights! Camera! Action! Create a movie poster advertising the upcoming blockbuster film adaptation of Eric Larson’s Isaac’s Storm. Your poster must include:

  • The title and a tagline
  • The name of the director (choose a real director)
  • An image of or reference to at least one of the symbols from the text
  • At least two quotes from the text
  • First and last names of the cast members (choose real actors)

B. In addition to your movie poster, provide a list of the main characters and who you have selected to play their parts. These should be real actors!

Present your movie poster to the class and explain your design choices.

Teaching Suggestion: It might be helpful to provide students with examples of movie posters before they begin working on their own projects.

Differentiation Suggestion: Depending on the availability of and individual students’ comfort level with technology, this project can be differentiated to be as high or low tech as necessary to meet the needs of all students.
