Selwyn is an intensely private and brooding student with a bad-boy aesthetic, dark hair, and numerous tattoos. As a "cambion" and descendant of Merlin, he serves as a powerful sorcerer for the Order of the Round Table. He is fiercely protective of Nick and highly suspicious of outsiders, initially viewing Bree as a threat while simultaneously sharing an undeniable electric connection with her.

Nick is a charismatic, athletic 17-year-old who acts as Bree's peer mentor at the Early College program. With his tousled blond hair and welcoming demeanor, he provides a contrast to the hostility of other secret society members. Despite his high standing in the Order of the Round Table, Nick harbors resentment toward the organization's rigid expectations and seeks to forge his own path while protecting Bree.

Alice is a Taiwanese-American student, a lesbian, and Bree's fiercely loyal best friend since childhood. She is practical, rule-abiding, and deeply concerned for Bree's well-being following the death of Bree's mother. As Bree becomes increasingly entangled in the secret society, Alice's worry grows, putting a strain on their lifelong friendship.

William is a member of the Order of the Round Table and serves as its primary healer. Known for his specific, bright green magical regalia, he is exceptionally skilled at mending severe injuries. William is one of the few welcoming figures in the Order, offering Bree kindness, medical care, and gentle advice without the immediate hostility shown by others.

Dr. Hartwood is a Black therapist selected by Bree's father to help Bree process her traumatic grief. Beyond her psychiatric credentials, Patricia is a practitioner of Rootcraft, a matrilineal spiritual tradition. She provides Bree with a safe space to explore her emotions and acts as a crucial link to the local Black community and alternative spiritual practices outside the Order.

Mr. Matthews is Bree's father, a mechanic and shop manager who deeply loves his daughter. Struggling with his own grief after his wife's sudden death, he tries his best to support Bree's transition to the Early College program. He is highly protective and perceptive, recognizing when Bree isolates herself and taking proactive steps to ensure she receives emotional support.

Dr. Davis—often called Lord Davis—is Nick's father and a powerful authority figure within the Order of the Round Table. He presents the polished demeanor of a Southern gentleman and commands immense respect among the secret society's members. He is deeply invested in the Order's ancient prophecies and places heavy, uncompromising expectations on his son.

Evan is a student at UNC who is introduced to Bree and Alice as Charlotte's boyfriend. He maintains a casual, friendly exterior and participates in the social events surrounding the Early College program. He also holds a place in the Order of the Round Table, keeping his involvement in the secret society hidden from his civilian girlfriend.

Tor is an 18-year-old Early College junior who comes from an affluent, "old money" background. She is a highly skilled combatant within the Order and moves with natural authority. Charlotte is an older student at UNC who originally hails from Bree and Alice's hometown of Bentonville. She acts as a friendly bridge for the younger girls as they adjust to campus life, inviting them to social gatherings and offering to share clothes for formal events. She remains unaware of the magical world operating around her.

Sarah is a member of the Order of the Round Table who assists with the organization's logistics and acts as a liaison at the Lodge. She is half-Venezuelan, though she notes she passes for white in the predominantly Caucasian society. She is friendly toward Bree and provides helpful context about the Order's internal workings and curses.

Greer is a member of the Order who uses they/them pronouns. Unlike many of their peers, Greer is immediately welcoming to Bree, striking up friendly conversations and defending her against the overt bigotry of other candidates. His aggressive tactics make him a persistent antagonist to Bree during the tournament trials.

Isaac is an experienced Merlin who serves as the personal Kingsmage to Lord Davis. He is unquestioningly loyal to the head of the Order, carrying out his commands with ruthless efficiency. His powerful magic and cold demeanor make him a formidable enforcer of the Order's strict rules.

Mariah is an art history major at UNC and a practitioner of Rootcraft. Specifically, she is a Medium capable of communing with the spirits of the dead. She is invited by Dr. Hartwood to help Bree safely connect with her ancestors and process the overwhelming grief that blocks her spiritual abilities.
