Its enormous white wings drag like oars at its sides, leaving the creature awkward, weak, and vulnerable to the crew's harassment.

A group of seafaring men who catch oceanic birds out of boredom and a desire for crude entertainment. They act thoughtlessly, dragging majestic creatures down to the ship's deck to mock and taunt them. One bothers the bird with a pipe, while another limps to imitate the struggling creature, demonstrating a callous disregard for beauty.

An exalted but alienated figure who reaches the heights of human imagination but struggles in the mundane, everyday world. Equipped with giant metaphorical wings that provide extraordinary vision, the poet cannot easily walk among ordinary people.
