Game On continues this tradition by integrating key figures from the previous books, Lights Out and Caught Up. The protagonist, Tyler Neumann, is the best friend of Josh, a hacker and the son of a notorious serial killer who was a central character in a prior novel. In Lights Out, Josh develops a relationship with Aly Cappellucci, a nurse and former fling of Tyler. Although Tyler appeared in the previous novels primarily as Josh’s witty and morally flexible best friend, Game On reveals that many of his seemingly casual actions were occurring alongside a years-long effort to locate and destroy the father who abandoned him.
