Ana Huang’s Kings of Sin is a seven-book contemporary romance series in which each installment is structured around one of the seven deadly sins. In a 2024 interview, Huang explained that she has long been fascinated by how the seven deadly sins can be adapted into popular media and that the sins “seemed like the perfect theme” for a billionaire romance series because so many of them “are easily applicable to both the corporate world and high society” (Kami Tei. “Ana Huang Talks ‘Kings of Sin’ Billionaire Romance Series.” Amazon Book Review, 30 Apr. 2024). Each novel in the series pairs a wealthy, emotionally guarded hero whose dominant character flaw corresponds to the titular sin with a heroine who challenges him to confront it. Though every book functions as a standalone romance with its own couple and central conflict, the novels share a setting, a cast of recurring characters, and thematic preoccupations that deepen when read in sequence.

The series is anchored by the Valhalla Club, an ultra-exclusive social club in New York City where the protagonists converge. Valhalla serves as a communal gathering point and functions as a symbol of the wealth, power, and insularity that define the characters’ world. Characters from earlier novels routinely appear in later ones, offering advice, comic relief, or logistical support to the featured couple; this structure is popular in romance fiction and examples can be found ranging from Julia Quinn’s Regency romance Bridgerton series (which begins with The Duke and I ) to Rachel Reid’s interconnected hockey romance series (which includes Heated Rivalry). The Kings of Sin series features Christian Harper, a morally ambiguous billionaire and security expert first introduced in Huang’s earlier Twisted series; Harper recurs throughout Kings of Sin as a fixer whom protagonists call upon when conventional solutions fail. He plays an important role in resolving the central conflict of King of Gluttony by uncovering information about the sabotage.



The series begins with King of Wrath (2022), which features Dante Russo and Vivian Lau. Their arranged marriage begins as a transaction orchestrated through blackmail and evolves into genuine love after Dante dismantles the scheme that forced them together. King of Pride (2023) follows Kai Young, a reserved CEO competing for control of his family’s corporation, and Isabella Valencia, a bartender at the Valhalla Club; their forbidden relationship is complicated by a club fraternization policy and a media scandal. King of Greed (2023) centers on Dominic Davenport, an ambitious financier whose obsession with professional success costs him his marriage to Alessandra. The marriage traces his campaign to win her back after she files for divorce. The use of a series structure allows for interconnected novels to feature distinctive romance tropes such as “arranged marriage” and “second-chance romance.”

King of Sloth (2024) pairs Xavier Castillo, a Colombian beer heir whose carefree public persona masks guilt over his mother’s death, with Sloane Kensington, his workaholic publicist; together they build the Vault, a nightclub that becomes a prominent venue in subsequent novels. King of Envy (2025) tells the story of Vuk Markovic, a selectively nonverbal billionaire who has silently loved supermodel Ayana Kidane for years, only to discover that her engagement to his best friend is a contractual arrangement rather than a genuine romance.

The protagonists of King of Gluttony, Sebastian Laurent and Maya Singh, have appeared as secondary characters across the series, establishing their competitive dynamic and mutual social connections before their story takes center stage. Characters from earlier installments play active roles in the novel: Sloane and Xavier host events at the Vault; Vivian plans Maya’s birthday party and helps coordinate the frozen foods launch; Ayana and Vuk attend social gatherings and offer emotional support. The novel also introduces Killian Katrakis, a bachelor whose combative chemistry with a woman named Tate in the epilogue clearly signals the setup for King of Lust, the final installment in the series.

Thematically, King of Gluttony extends the series’ recurring interest in how personal flaws and external pressures intersect. Where earlier heroes grappled with rage, arrogance, avarice, apathy, and jealousy, Sebastian’s gluttony manifests not as overindulgence in food but as an insatiable hunger for purpose, validation, and emotional fulfillment. His relentless pursuit of perfection in the kitchen and his fixation on Maya mirror the broader series pattern in which each sin is reframed as a vulnerability that love ultimately helps the hero address.
