After leaving Manuel’s, Azure and Jasa de Alwes use a dome-like DeGov Autobooth to verify their new identities. As they walk away, Azure explains that the DNA wash will wear off in a few hours and that he has stopped using his revs to dampen the pain from the wash.

Azure reveals his plan to bring Jasa to his safe house, wait a week to return to the city, get the file, and then part ways with her. Jasa rejects this plan, explaining that the Keres conducted an exhaustive investigation into his entire life before they saved his life. Any location from before that time, including the safe house, has likely been compromised. She clarifies that any new information about Azure since the time of the Oceanus bombing has been filtered through Atti, meaning that anything Atti is unaware of is likely still secure.

Azure considers an alternative safe location to hide Jasa. They proceed without him disclosing where it is.

Azure leads Jasa on foot through The Bash, a district in Themis Core known for the distribution of legal non-addictive drugs called nostrums. As they observe the district’s inhabitants, Jasa expresses disapproval of the drug.
