The morning after spending the night together, Aric and Rey discuss who moved the statue into his game room. Rey reveals the final rune is Thurisaz, Thor’s rune of protection and destruction, located in a public place. Aric realizes tonight’s Wild Hunt is the perfect opportunity to retrieve it since everyone will be away. However, the protective runes will be disabled, allowing Odin potential access to Mjölnir. Despite Rey’s fears, Aric convinces her to proceed, framing it as balance between Giants and Gods. Later, Aric worries that awakening will cost him Rey and makes her promise to always look at him as if he matters. She promises through tears, though Aric considers it a “beautiful lie.”
On Sunday morning, Rey and Aric playfully wrestle, falling off the bed laughing when Aric’s brother, Reeve, enters. His demeanor shifts when he sees Aric’s four activated runes. Rey overhears Reeve urgently discussing with Sigurd how to keep someone safe and maintain a lie. In the kitchen, Reeve drops his cheerful act, threatens Rey, and reveals he knows she’s Odin’s daughter. Rey is shocked, as she believed Reeve was asleep to his powers and memories.
